Privacy policy

Who handles your data

Liftwell is a project by Ivano Lu, a private individual, who is the controller of the data collected by the Liftwell app and by this website. For any question or request: liftwellnow@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Account: email, your name if Google or Apple provide it when you sign in, an account identifier.
  • Profile and training: name, sex, age, goal, experience, days and equipment, plan, sets, loads, reps, notes, runs (distance, duration, pace).
  • Health data: weight, height, sleep, stress, joint discomfort, the pain and injuries you report, and the runs you choose to import from Apple Health.
  • Location: only while you record a run, to measure distance and route. The route stays on your iPhone and never reaches us.
  • Subscription: payments are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details, only whether Liftwell Plus is active and until when. The free trial of Liftwell Plus is Apple's: it renews into a paid subscription unless you cancel it in your Apple ID settings. Two days before it ends the app shows you a reminder; the reminder is scheduled on your iPhone and does not go through us.
  • Website waitlist: email, page language, sign-up date and the consent text.
  • Emails from Liftwell, only if you tick the box: the email of your account and the date you agreed.

We use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, in the app or on the website.

Why, and on what basis

  • Running the app (account, plan, cloud saving): performance of the service you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Using health data to adapt your plan and recovery: your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), asked separately from the account and optional. Without it the app works without those data and does not ask for them. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile → Health data: the health data are erased from your iPhone and from our records.
  • Sending the launch email and activating 3 months of Plus: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you sign up.
  • Sending app news, training tips and offers by email, a few times a month at most: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 130 of the Italian Privacy Code), asked in the app with its own box, unticked and optional. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile → Emails from Liftwell or with the link in every email. Emails tied to your account (confirmation, password) are sent anyway.

Your data are never sold, never used for advertising, and never used for decisions with legal effects on you. The plan is calculated automatically, but every change is yours to decide.

Who receives them

  • Google (Firebase): stores your account, the app data and the waitlist, on our behalf. If you sign in with Google, Google also tells us your email and name.
  • Apple: payments, Sign in with Apple, Apple Health. Apple Health receives data only if you turn on "Add to Apple Health".
  • Spotify, only if you connect your account to control music: its own policy also applies.
  • The service we will use to send the launch email and the emails from Liftwell, which will be named here before sending.

Google and Apple may process data in the United States. They take part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and apply the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long

  • Account and app data: as long as you keep your account. When you delete it in the app, we erase them from our records straight away.
  • Waitlist: until 6 months after Liftwell launches, then it is erased. You can ask to be removed earlier by writing to us.
  • Consent to emails from Liftwell: until you withdraw it or delete your account.
  • On your iPhone the app keeps a daily backup of the last few days. It goes away with the app.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your data, receive it in a readable format, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. In the app: Profile → Delete account; Profile → Health data; Profile → Emails from Liftwell; Settings → Export your data (sets and runs as CSV, everything as JSON). For anything else write to liftwellnow@gmail.com: we answer within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Minimum age

You must be at least 16 to create an account.

Security

Data travel encrypted and each account can read only its own. If a data breach happened, we would report it to the authority and, where needed, to you.

This website

The website uses no cookies. It only remembers in your browser the language you chose and whether you already signed up. Fonts are hosted here, with no requests to other sites.

Liftwell is not a medical device

The app gives no medical advice. With pain or injuries, see a doctor or a physiotherapist.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update the date at the top and, for important changes, we tell you in the app.
